A MESSAGE FROM
THE PRESIDENT
As we embark upon a new IAWP year, I would
like to welcome everyone to the South Carolina IAWP Chapter website, recently named the International IAWP Chapter Achievement
Award winner for the fourth consecutive year.
The International Association of Workforce
Professionals Association (IAWP) is a professional association of members who work in public and private workforce development
programs. With over 350 members statewide, the South Carolina chapter is a non-profit educational association
dedicated to workforce professionals with a tradition and history of contribution to workforce excellence.
Educational and professional growth is one
of many priorities of the South Carolina Chapter. The chapter provides staff development and training through educational
conferences, workshops and institutions. The South Carolina Chapter is dedicated to providing members with quality educational
content to enhance competence and proficiency, and increase knowledge.
Communication, legislation, and networking
are all methods of information exchange that are essential to the success of the South Carolina Chapter. Keeping members fully
informed of all legislative activities and prompting action when needed is critical to protecting program funding that supports
our jobs. With that in mind, the South Carolina Chapter strives to maintain and increase membership. With one voice, there
is an opportunity for change, with several voices there is an opportunity for response. The SC Chapter website, our award
winning chapter newsletter (Palmetto Works), the International website at www.iawponline.org and the International newsletter Workforce Professional, keep members fully informed of all local, state and
international activities, news, and information.
The SC Chapter is actively involved in community
services activities. For several years, the chapter has worked with organizations including the American Red Cross, Department
of Disabilities and Special Needs, Ronald McDonald House, Easter Seals Society of SC, the Connie Maxwell Children’s
Home, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, Christmas Care Packages for Troops, and Carolina Wildlife Care to name a few. The
chapter is seriously dedicated toward helping our community strive toward positive outcome.
IAWP boasts one of the most comprehensive
award programs in the country. Under the leadership of Immediate Past President Robin McManus, the SC Chapter was honored
to receive the Chapter Achievement Award for the fourth consecutive year which was presented at the 94th Annual
International Education Conference held in Boise, ID. The SC Chapter also received three first place International awards for Individual
Award of Merit, Group Award of Merit and Individual Unemployment Insurance Award, as well as a second place award for One
Stop of the Year. As you can see, South Carolina is very
proud of our workforce professionals!
As you continue to browse our website and
learn more about the International Association of Workforce Professionals, I would like to encourage members and nonmembers
to “accept membership in this association as a personal responsibility.”
If you are not a member of this dynamic association, I would like to personally invite you to join an association that
is changing lives and creating futures.
As we continue to strive toward this new
upcoming year with great anticipation, the South Carolina Chapter will follow the theme of President Laura Coburn, “Developing
Professional for Today and Tomorrow.”
