2007-08 Executive Board

Board of Directors? Chapter Executive Board? Voting Members? Who runs the SC Chapter of IAWP? What does it all mean?

You, the regular member, actually run the chapter. Through your vote, you put people into office with the trust that they will lead the chapter the way you'd like it to be led. It all starts at the subchapter level...

The state is divided into four subchapters (see South Carolina Subchapters). Each subchapter has a governing body consisting of a chair, a vice-chair and a secretary/treasurer. Your subchapter is represented at the state level by your subchapter chair.

At the state level, there are six elected officers: president, president-elect, vice president, treasurer, delegate to the International Convention, and either a District V representative or a District V representative-elect (this office is alternated with our district co-chapter, North Carolina and must be a chapter past-president). The chapter secretary is appointed by the chapter president. The immediate past-president is also a member of this group. The six elected officers for 2007-08 are President Kathy Robonson, President-Elect Chuck Alexander, Vice President Mary Nell Smith, Treasurer Linda Austin, Delegate to the International Conference Portia Daise and District V Director-ElectKathy Gibson. The chapter secretary is Heather Russell, the Co-Secretary is Donna Raines, and the immediate past-president is Robin McManus. Please go to Chapter Organization, 2007-08 Executive Board for officer contact information.

All elected officers, the secretary and the immediate past-president are voting members of the chapter's executive board, as are the four subchapter chairs. These 12 voting members are called the chapter's board of directors.

The board of directors is advised by a group of people, called committee chairs, who coordinate 19 different areas. These individuals are appointed by the president and, though they do not vote, can make motions and can participate in motion discussion. Please go to Chapter Organization, 2007-08 Executive Board for committee chair contact information.

The voting members combined with the committee chairs are known as the chapter executive board. The executive board meets between annual meetings when needed as determined by the chapter president. Any chapter business that needs to be done between executive board meetings is conducted by the board of directors.
