JOIN US IN SPARTANBURG FOR THE
2008 SC IAWP CONFERENCE
Final arrangements
are being made for the 53rd Annual SC IAWP Educational Conference to be held April 23 -25 at the Marriott Hotel
in Spartanburg. The
Local Arrangements Committee promises to make this the most fun and memorable conference ever.
The event will
kick off with the Early Bird reception on Wednesday, April 23rd
from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The
theme for the Early Bird will be “Chilling by the Beach.” Yes, we’re
bringing the beach to Spartanburg! A hambuger outside picnic
will be served from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Afterwards you can relax and enjoy live
entertainment in the bar/lounge or, enjoy a game of cards or a round of pool in the extended areas of the lounge.
On Thursday,
April 24th, the education conference will begin with a luncheon buffet. Thursday night is Subchapter Night. The theme
is “Rockin in the 70’s”. Dave Gilbert, the DJ we used last
year, was a big hit and we have asked him to come back. He will help us give
the Electric Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, and the Shag a new 70’s twist. Prizes
will be awarded to the best dancers as well as the best karaoke singers. Wear
your best 70’s costume and win prizes for these categories as well. We
plan to have dance instruction classes for the Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle and the Shag.
In order for this 70’s theme to be successful, we need everyone to participate by dressing in 70’s attire
on Thursday night and have as many as possible participating in the various dance contests.
We are also asking contestants to sign up in advance for the dance competition.
If you would like to be an instructor for one of the dance classes, please contact Earlene Corrothers at ecorrothers@sces.org,
or phone me at 864-573-7525.
The awards
banquet on Friday evening will take place from 7:00-9:30 pm. Following
the banquet, will be live entertainment.
Please make plans to support your IAWP Chapter by committing to join us for a great conference, with time for professional
development, as well as lots of fun and games. Let’s have record numbers
this year by having at least 200 in attendance.
